The Import/Export Specialist is responsible for import and export tariff classifications and for identifying and determining any additional customs requirements for Trinity goods and materials.
For example: ADD/CVD applicability, USMCA analysis and eligibility, Steel restrictions or requirements, other PGAs, etc.
This role also supports export screening for international sales.
This position will be located at our headquarter offices in Dallas, Texas.
**What you'll do**:- Determine tariff classification through informed interpretation of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, for US, Mexico and Canada import/exports- Interact with data sources, technical experts, engineers, product and sourcing managers,
and others to obtain and interpret the data (including specification documents, schematics, product descriptions and other technical data) necessary for accurate tariff classification- Review all products being imported and exported to provide pertinent trade information required to comply with applicable regulatory trade requirements- Assist in providing guidance concerning the export requirements and obligations under Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and other US and non- US export laws and Requirements- Conduct USMCA analysis and determine eligibility- Facilitate USMCA program, including contacting critical suppliers, obtaining internal data, and supporting critical USMCA requests- Provide guidance to Customs Broker on clearance inquiries.- Maintain compliant classification (import & export), PGAs, and AD/CVD processes to ensure implementation and effectiveness of internal controls**TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)**- Expertise using the following resources for import product classification: General Rules of Interpretation (GRIs),
Harmonized Tariff's Schedule of the US (HTSUS) Chapter and Section Notes, Explanatory Notes, CROSS - Customs Binding Rulings Database- Advanced knowledge and experience with USMCA analysis for eligibility and compliance- Advanced knowledge of import and export regulations- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks- Strong analytical as well as verbal and written communication skills- Detail oriented, with the ability to work independently to resolve problems and deliver required results**What you'll need**:- Bachelor's degree or equivalent- A current Licensed Customs House Broker is preferred- 5+ years previous experience working in import/export- Bilingual in English and Spanish, strongly preferred
