Within our Energy and Industrial Automation (EIA) division, we provide solutions for safety, security, and performance throughout the energy, power distribution and automation value chains.
We work in a diversity of cutting-edge industries, such as: Industry 4.0, Renewable Energy and Autonomous Products, both in Industrial and Automotive environment.
The impact of our work spreads through many business areas on a global scale yet focused locally through our 1,500 team members.
In order to consolidate our business and continue our successful journey, our Functional Safety Engineering Team under Energy and Industrial Automation is looking for a new colleague as a Functional Safety and Cybersecurity Engineer
After your onboarding alongside an experienced colleague, you will:
- Determine project scope, develop a preliminary plan of investigation and determine the project specifications such as cost, time and testing requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data and product construction; projects may include travel to conduct audits or witness tests at client sites
- Assess safety processes and related safety management processes for clients seeking to compliance to standards in functional safety, cybersecurity and related fields, including ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ISO 21434, IEC 62443, IEC 62061, ISO 13849, ISO 61511, and other similar standards relevant to systems and software engineering.
- Communicate with clients to discuss technical issues, explain UL procedures and requirements per applicable standards, convey project cost and negotiate completion date, as well as client input delivery requirements
- Examine work products for compliance with UL requirements and notify client of any areas in which the product or process is not in compliance or of any changes in project scope or specifications.
- Coordinate laboratory activities by preparing data sheets and instructions to technicians,
scheduling and reviewing work of laboratory staff and engineering assistants as well as establishing completion dates
- Communicate project status and results to clients through frequent contact reports
- Assist in the development of UL special requirements and improvement of evaluation tools
- Represent UL at industry related events (seminars and trade shows) and perform training for clients regarding best practices of the applicable standards
- Perform training for clients on the relevant standards, develop and continuously improve the training material
Calificaciones/QualificaÃ-ões:
**Requirements**:
- University Degree in Electrical
- or Information Technology Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or Physics
- 4+ years of experience in the area of Functional Safety, Cybersecurity, Autonomous Systems,
Industrial or Automotive Functional Safety, Testing and Certification, Research and Development or similar
- Good knowledge of Standards Conformity applicable to Functional Safety and Cybersecurity of electrical/ electronical programmable systems according to IEC 61508, IEC 61511, IEC 61800-5-2, IEC 62061, ISO 13849-1, ISO 26262, IEC 60730-1, EN50126/-128/-129, ISO 21434, IEC 62443; knowledge of ISO 10218, ISO 13482 and UL 991/UL 1998 is a plus
- Experience working with Autonomous Systems, Safety of the Intended Function (SOTIF), UL 4600 or ISO 21448 standards, knowledge of robotics, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, as well as embedded software are a plus
- Ability to understand and interpret safety requirements in order to devise an implementation strategy and develops functional design specifications based on those requirements
- Technical knowledge and understanding of functional safety and cybersecurity practices and principles of functional safety and cybersecurity assurance, hazard & risk assessment
- Experience in data science and data pipeline development for the training and evaluation of artificial intelligence algorithms; and for the verification & validation of such algorithms are a plus
- Verification and validation of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and autonomous systems using track testing, field testing, and systems integration test for integrated sensing systems
