Job Description: We are looking for a Junior Data Engineer to join our growing Data team.
You will have a strong desire to gain experience in a fast-paced, rapidly growing Software development company,
working with a wider range of Data Engineering tools to help implement the extensive data workflows that make an industry-leading TV operating system.
The data products you help build will be integral to our customer-facing solutions, so accuracy, reliability, and scalability are paramount.
We aim to stay ahead of the curve in data engineering, which means applying modern best practices like DataOps, CI/CD for data pipelines, and robust data governance.
You will receive mentorship from a Senior Data Engineer, who will guide you through your professional development and help you achieve your learning goals in an environment that promotes innovation and continuous growth.
What you'll be doing: Contribute to Reliable Data Pipelines: Assist in creating and maintaining low-latency, highly reliable data pipelines.
Collaborate Across Teams: Become a trusted partner for front-end, back-end,
and data science teams to ensure smooth data integration and alignment with evolving requirements.
Version Control CI/CD: Use Git and automated testing frameworks (e.g.
dbt tests) to manage changes effectively and deploy data transformations in a continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline.
Delivery Real-Time Insights: Work on projects that may involve real-time analytics or streaming data to power personalized recommendations, generative AI features, and real-time business dashboards.
Contribute to Data Tooling Strategy: Share insights and propose new ideas for our data toolset, investigating emerging technologies that could enhance our modern data stack.
Come join us if you have: 0-2 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or a MS/BS in Computer Science.
Proficiency in Python (and ideally one other software programming language),
with a good understanding of software development principles.
Working knowledge of SQL and familiarity with ETL/ELT and job orchestration tools (e.g.
Airflow, Prefect, Dagster).
Exposure to Cloud Platforms: Some experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and familiarity with containerization/orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
Familiarity with some Big Data Frameworks and Tools like: MapReduce, Hive, Presto, HDFS, YARN, Kafka, etc is advantageous but not required.
Any experience with BI Tools presenting results using a business intelligence tool (e.g.
Tableau, PowerBI, Amazon Quicksight, Looker, or Open Source solutions like Apache Superset) for presenting results to stakeholders.
Understanding of DataOps CI/CD: Comfortable using Git and open to learning about automated testing,
continuous integration, and continuous deployment of data transformations.
An ability to communicate confidently with your peers and provide a clear breakdown of your approach to a task.
Curiosity Ownership: Naturally curious, proactive about learning new tools or techniques, and eager to take responsibility for the data products you help create.
