Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Modernization Technical Project Manager (TPM)
to join our dynamic team.
The TPM will collaborate closely with clients and internal team members to drive the successful delivery of Mechanized AI's infrastructure and application modernization projects. The ideal candidate will have a blend of strong technical expertise, exceptional project management skills, and a strong understanding of AI and machine learning technologies.
Key Responsibilities: Manage end-to-end delivery of Mechanized AI infrastructure and application modernization projectsOversee the migration of virtual machines (VMs) to containers and the modernization of legacy applications (e.g., .NET, COBOL, Java) to modern technology stacksCoordinate the integration of generative AI capabilities into clients' modernization efforts, ensuring seamless adoptionCollaborate with enterprise clients to gather technical and functional requirements and translate them into actionable plans for the technical teamDevelop and maintain project scope, timelines, deliverables, budgets, and resource plans to ensure on-time, high-quality,
on-budget delivery of modernization projectsServe as the primary contact between clients and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals and expectationsLead cross-functional project teams, delegating tasks effectively and aligning resources with project goalsEngage with AI and LLM (Large Language Model) teams to improve automation, documentation, and code modernization outcomesEstablish and maintain best practices to ensure code quality, security, and compliance with organizational and industry standardsIdentify risks, issues, and dependencies, and develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on trackFacilitate regular status meetings and provide detailed project updates to internal and external stakeholders (technical and non-technical)Foster a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and feedback loops among project teams.
Continually refine project workflows and delivery processes, leveraging lessons learned and stakeholder feedbackRequired Skills & Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or related field4+ years of experience as a Modernization TPM in a client-facing role or consulting environment3+ years of recent (last 10 years), hands-on experience as a software developer working with legacy code bases (e.g., .NET, Visual Basic, COBOL, Java)1+ years of experience managing or collaborating with frontend teams, or hands-on frontend development to ensure quality UI output in modernized codeProven experience planning and executing modernization/migration projects from legacy tech stacks to modern tech stacksUnderstanding of AI/ML concepts, tools,
and practical applicationsProven ability to gather and document technical requirements and translate them into actionable tasks for engineering teamsProficiency with project management tools (e.g., Trello, Jira) and Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, XP)Experience overseeing modernization project timelines and resource allocationStrong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environmentExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teamsC1/C2 (advanced/proficient) level English is requiredPreferred Qualifications: Strong understanding of legacy code patterns, standards, and antipatternsStrong understanding of modern code patterns, standards, antipatterns,
