Job summary
Amazon is seeking a high-judgment, self-motivated, and intuitive communications expert and business advisor to join the Operations Internal Communications team.
You will primarily support Mexico and Brazil Customer Fulfillment and other business operations as needed.
You will help define, strengthen, and amplify the operations culture by providing strategic communication counsel to executives, advising on programs, advocating for employees, driving thought leadership, and leading communications.
You will provide strategic communication leadership for a team of two communicators and strategic counsel to cross-functional partners on a wide range of complex topics, manage issues, changes, and crisis communications; and execute on employee communications, programs, and experiences.
You will insist on the highest standards, be right a lot, dive deep into details, have a strong bias for action and sense of ownership, distill information to find common threads between projects, and be energized by juggling priorities.
You'll keep composure in fast-moving situations, embrace ambiguity and changing tides, be able to quickly get up to speed on complex issues, anticipate employee questions/reactions, and quickly prepare thorough messaging strategies.
Key job responsibilities

- Earn trust, provide counsel, and effectively communicate with a range of internal stakeholders
- Develop innovative internal communications strategies, clear narratives, and tactics that engage Amazon's Mexico and Brazil operations frontline employees and leaders
- Manage and write the content strategy for Mexico and Brazil Operations, aligned with operational goals
- Provide strategic leadership for a team of two communicators in Mexico and Brazil
- Lead development and execution of communications for new programs, policies, and changes
- Formulate a clear point of view on issues and create a concise and well-written narrative to address it (sometimes on-call)
- Raise the bar through passion for internal communications, willingness to take risk, impeccable judgment, and logic and care in decision-making
- Roll up sleeves and get work done, even when at times it's outside the scope of the job
- Exercise extremely high judgment, particularly in narrow time frames
- Experience building robust communications programs and delivering results
- Excellent writing and verbal communications skills
- Fluency in English and Spanish, and ability to develop communications in English and Spanish
- Internal or external communications experience with logistics, operations, or retail companies with a mobile workforce
- Issues management experience at a global, public company, ideally a large and well-known brand
- Experience developing relevant content for a diverse, remote, and mobile workforce
- Experience creating metrics to measure communication effectiveness, reach, and engagement
- Fluency in Portuguese and ability to develop communications in Portuguese
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and able to form a cohesive and effective outcome from potentially incongruous facts (or lack thereof) and individual perspectives
- Possess a strategic approach to problem solving; able to anticipate potential reputational issues
- Ability to exercise high judgment and persuasion, particularly in narrow time-frames
- Willing to get work done, even when at times it's outside the scope of the job
- High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
