A Bachelor's degree is required.
An advanced degree is also required, preferably in a relevant discipline (e.g., Law, Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, Engineering, and a JD/LL.B or Master's degree preferred).
- 7 or more years of experience in government or multinational corporate public policy, preferably in the ICT, financial services or other regulated industry.
- Fluent in English and Spanish, spoken and written.

AWS is looking for a talented, innovative, enthusiastic and well-respected individual to support our the cloud computing business of Amazon in Mexico.
The Manager, AWS Public Policy Mexico,



will demonstrate Amazon's Leadership Principles, in particular, strong ownership, bias for action and sound judgement.
This position will support the development and execution of strategic government affairs objectives for engagement on AWS business and policy priorities at all levels of government to support our growing business in Mexico, including supporting our regulated industries, such as financial services and healthcare customers' ability to build in the cloud.
This position will support government outreach and establish relationships with public officials and regulators in Mexico City and across state and local communities in Mexico, including where we have existing operations and potential development, working closely with outside consultants and our trade associations.
The position will involve a moderate amount of travel and will be based in Mexico City, Mexico.
Key job responsibilities
- Support our AWS Public Policy work in Mexico;
- Develop and execute policy strategies, government affairs advocacy objectives and public policy priorities,



on behalf AWS and our customers in Mexico, including in the financial services, telecommunications and other regulated industries;
- Work collaboratively and transparently with the AWS Infrastructure, Commercial and Public Sector business teams to develop strategies and ensure alignment between core business priorities, public policy goals, and "go to market" strategies at federal, state and local levels;
- Identify and monitor opportunities and risks for the business arising from policy and regulatory developments at federal, state and local levels, including in the financial services and other regulated industries;
- Provide support and advice to internal business partners and assist them in developing their respective business strategies;
- Support meetings at all levels between AWS executives, experts and key stakeholders,



including policy makers, regulators and government IT leaders, industry associations, and alliance partners to promote and advocate for the company's public policy policies; and
- Leverage appropriate corporate membership opportunities in industry associations and policy organizations on behalf of AWS, and ensure appropriate utilization of outside consultants when necessary.
- Knowledge of the policy making process and digital transformation framework in Mexico, as well as expertise in a particular regulated industry, preferably financial services, telecommunications, or energy.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at all corporate and political levels; create factual,



relevant and easily understandable talking points and other messaging; and persuasively deliver messaging to relevant audiences.
- Maintain highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with strongest professional reputation in the industry.
- Self-starter who can take general direction and produce specific results.
- Ability to identify and understand key technical aspects pertaining to corporate operations in legislative and regulatory proposals, understand business implications, and synthesize and concisely explain policy documents for internal and external customers.
- Ability to think critically, process data from multiple sources, forecast potential scenarios, prioritize based on probability and desired outcome, and recommend a best course of action.
- Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others.
