Asset Management Risk:
Global Asset Management, the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC’s worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds.
The mission of Asset Management Risk team is to protect our clients by given them confidence, provide assurance to our key stakeholders: our clients, shareholders, management, staff and regulators; to eneable the business to achieve sustainable growth and our people to succeed and to grow our clients’ money, our business and our people.
We are currently seeking the Chief Risk Officer for our business in Mexico
Role purpose
- Have a strong commitment to risk management, which includes involving stakeholders in a diligent, transparent and forward-looking assessment of the main risk facing the company, from informing the soundness of the current process to challenges arising from markets, regulators, operations and other dimensions of risk.
- Identify and escalate in a timely manner significant risk issues and exceptions, not only for financial risk, but also for legal, regulatory, and operational risk, with responsibility and accountability when communicating and explaining risk exposures and issues to Senior Management.
- Engage with senior management teams, committees, governance forums and key business managers for relevant risk reporting across AMG and HSBC
- Ensure a recurring engagement with Front Office teams and attend forums to review and challenge portfolio risk.
- Derive increased front office risk awareness through regular challenge and analytical assessment.
- Represent the local Risk team at relevant project working groups in relation to regulatory/governance changes
- Ensure that local IR and LR metrics are fit for purpose and meet business and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure with the Global risk team that risk systems or models meet the standard requirements to satisfy expectation for reportable metrics, data coverage and quality.
- Meet the requirements of key stakeholders through regular reporting of risk metrics and the active assessment of evolving risk exposures.
- Identify and escalate in a timely manner important risks with responsibility and accountability when communicating and explaining risk exposures and problems to Senior Management, both for Mexico and Argentina.
- Generate Risk Management policies and procedures always seeking to comply with local regulatory standards, as well as those established by AM globally and HSBC Risk Management Framework.
- Generate added value in terms of information,
tools and opportunity to improve the performance of the returns of said portfolios. Likewise, comply with the existing internal and regulatory regulations that are in force regarding risk management.
- Contribute to the improvement of processes, establish controls and promote an internal culture of risk control, which will result in a reduction of sanctions from the authorities, and in general in added value for the financial group.
- Incorporate new products into existing Risk processes.
Requirements
Knowledge & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Actuary, Mathematics, Economics or related careers.
- Postgraduate in Finance, Administration, Risks or similar.
- AMIB Risk Management Certification Figure 6.
- Extensive knowledge in risk management and business risks (Market, Credit, Liquidity, Information, Operational,
etc.)
- Knowledge of Financial Accounting, Financial Markets and Valuation of Financial Instruments and Derivatives.
- High knowledge of the current regulation in the Mexican Financial System and applicable to the Securities Market (mainly Investment Funds Law, Circular única de Fondos de inversión and Self-Regulation Standards), particularly in matters of Risk Management.
- High knowledge of the operation and administration of investment funds in general, as well as the functioning of the institutional areas.
- Capacity for teamwork.
- Communication and Leadership Skills.
- High level of logical reasoning.
- Ability to work under pressure
- High / medium level in English language.
