Our client, one of the largest Internet platforms in the travel & hospitality industry, is looking for a **Back-End Engineer**.
This US-based company relies on user-generated content and prides itself in providing a unique experience for online visitors and employees.
The project that you will be working on involves building a suite of products that serves restaurant owners and hoteliers alike, enabling them to market their businesses online.




As a Back-End Engineer, you will help build the products which allow customers to provide extra content and features on their property's pages.
Recently launched projects include an overhaul of the business-facing photo management suite, along with leveraging machine learning to power automatic promotional video generation for customers.
As a self-starting and results-driven engineer, you will collaborate with the team's Product Manager in an Agile/Scrum environment to bring key features to market.
In this role, you will:

- independently develop features in support of these products across all layers of the stack;
- be responsible for designing relational databases, microservices, and APIs;
- grow expertise in one or more technologies through your work, as well as share your learnings with your team;
- be responsible for testing the software you write and will maintain your features once released;
- actively seek feedback from your peers and promote a collaborative and fast-paced engineering culture.

PostgreSQL, Hadoop, Hive, Presto, Snowflake and Git.
**Job requirements**:

- 2+ years of large scale, full life cycle development experience;
- Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and OO design;
- Experience with back-end web development in Java and familiarity with SQL;
- The desire to move quickly, and an understanding that done is often a better option than perfect;
- Excellent English language skills (written and verbal).

**Responsibilities**:

- Design and implement the technical solutions for projects.
- Work closely with the client's product and design teams to define feature specifications;
- Be responsible for the quality of code you ship;




- Actively provide feedback on best practices and design patterns to your peers in the form of design reviews and code reviews;
- Participate in sprint planning, estimation sessions, and retrospectives to provide valuable feedback on the way the team is operating and how it could improve over time;
- Develop, deploy and maintain implementations of owner and consumer-facing features;
- Be responsible for all aspects of software engineering, from design to implementation, QA, operations and maintenance;
- Be a self-starter, investigating on your own, and reaching out to others to answer questions and make progress on your projects.
**Extra skills**:

- Familiarity with front-end web development, JavaScript/React, and GraphQL
