**What does a great Senior Cyber Security Engineer II do?**
If you have ever wanted to be part of a team where the work matters but the people matter more, where coming to work is interesting, challenging and fun even when the specific project of the day is not, where creativity, cleverness, tenacity and initiative are valued,
and you have wanted a key role in making that team exist, then this is the place for you. Along the way, you will be responsible for the cyber-security-engineering heavy-lifting for a global company providing critical international infrastructure and safeguarding the data of hundreds of millions of people around the world.
**You might be our kind of engineer if**:
- You routinely learn 10 new things before breakfast. Steep learning curves do not intimidate you
- You drank the agile Kool-aid ages ago and keep a copy of the Agile Manifesto framed on your wall
- Your best skill is not knowing all the answers but knowing how to ask the right questions
- Delving into detailed technical discovery and exploration is something you do for fun
- Identifying stakeholders and their needs is second nature
- Risk analysis and risk mitigation are a continuous background process
- Performing analysis to transform vague goals into well documented requirements makes you smile
- Creating a design to implement those requirements is your bread and butter
- Driving the execution of your design is a tasty dessert
- You are equally comfortable in collaboration or operating solo, but teamwork delights you
- Like the speed of light, engineering discipline and conforming to best practices are not just good ideas, they are the law
- You are comfortable switching between a contributor and a leader role, as needed
- This is not theoretical for you. You have demonstrable experience working in a team that exhibits these characteristics
**You might be our kind of leader if**:
- You are not a PM, but you can fire up an internal emulator and give a convincing impersonation of one
- You gain cooperation via building trusted relationships, not by reaching for coercive levers
- You recognize that there are times when you must override objections; you are wise enough to do so sparingly
- You are comfortable playing the role of the garden tender empowering others to be the fruit producers
- Your foundational belief is that everyone wants to succeed and are always doing the best they can
- You own the things that are yours to own and do not attempt to take control of things that are not yours to own
- You are a natural troubleshooter and squeaky-wheel greaser
- You are comfortable managing a backlog and ensuring it is executed according to business priorities
- Stand ups, retrospectives, and other Agile practices are just how you roll
- You organically collaborate and coordinate with other leaders; seeking consensus and compromise is second nature
- When leading others:
- You don't own the work of your teammates, but you do make sure it gets done following the right processes and procedures
- They don't perform the actual identification, discovery, planning, work decomposition, or confirming acceptance criteria are met, but you do make sure that those things are happening and at the right times
- You are regularly reviewing and optimizing team processes, facilitating the team discussions around those reviews and optimizations
- You field and answer questions about the team, its backlog, and its progress
- You protect the team by intercepting and diverting interruptions that are lower priority than the current work
Bonus points for:
- Experience/expertise in troubleshooting distributed systems
- Can read and understand complex Wireshark packet captures
- Experience in Cyber Security engineering
- Direct experience and expertise with Cyber Security tools and solutions
- Travel industry experience
- Development experience in Java, C#, Python
**Key Responsibilities**:
