**About the Role**:
As a Software Engineer,
you will be responsible for working within a product squad alongside other engineers, product managers and design teammates. This is a full-time position reporting to an Engineering Manager. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

**Self-motivation** **-** taking the initiative to get things done by finding ways around potential roadblocks and proactively working with other team members to find right-sized solutions.
**Learning and Teaching **-** you are someone who likes to participate in code reviews and mentor other engineers directly. You also enjoy new challenges and learning new things to help you do your work more effectively.
**What does the day-to-day look like?**:
- Translating business requirements into code!
- Collaborating with other engineers, designers and product managers throughout your work
- Pairing, mentoring and learning from friendly and talented engineers
- Quantifying results through experimentation at a scale
- Identifying tech debt and refactoring opportunities
- Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too,
and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.
**Requirements**:
- 2+ years of professional experience with web technologies and applicable RDBMSes. ( We mainly use Ruby on Rails, Typescript, and Postgres ).
- Solid understanding of your chosen languages and frameworks, but curiosity and ability to ramp up on new technologies quickly when called for.
- Experience with unit testing (whether TDD, BDD, or spike it first and test it later) and a desire to push everyone to do better.
- Great communication skills and the desire to collaborate across departments and with customers.
- Experience with financial operations (accounting, banking systems, CSVs) - huge plus!
- Experience with ElasticSearch, Redis, Docker - pluses.
