Area Shift Manager Jr, Last Mile Operations

The Delivery Station Manager Jr is responsible for managing a +20 hourly team, safety metrics, attrition, payroll, shifts, vacations, overtime, and AMZL OPS metrics such as delivery efficiency, number of routes, and cost per shipment. This role also provides support in purchasing tools, services, and consumables for the station.

The impacts of this position include operational KPIs and cost goals in the strategic plan, with the overriding goal of maximizing customer satisfaction and long-term shareholder value.

The Delivery Shift Manager Jr should coach and mentor the PA team (hourly)



to ensure performance objectives are met while building positive employee relations and bench strength for the organization. The successful candidate will continuously improve the efficiency of delivery processes and instill a culture of customer obsession, safety, and best-practice sharing. This role also serves as a thought partner with other internal teams to launch new stations and design new delivery models.

Job Specifics

This role is fully onsite and requires flexibility to work and rotate shifts: weekends, holidays, and/or overnight shifts, as well as the ability to work overtime during peak season and as needed.

Key Job Responsibilities

1. Create balance between “Work hard” and “Have fun” with associates under scope.
2. Ensure team execution to accomplish business goals.
3. Support process improvement activities associated with inefficiencies and/or new functions.
4. Assist in the development, documentation, deployment, and monitoring of key business processes.
5. Follow up on the KPIs of operations within the delivery station.
6. Actively support and promote organizational change.
7. Dive deep into analysis of KPIs.
8. Support the ACES team, customer service,



or other upcoming goals.
9. Measure drivers’ performance, discipline, and customer experience service.
10. Execute internal audits.
11. Support quality initiatives and process change initiatives to achieve year-on-year improvements.
12. Implement and develop delivery station workflows and metrics according to standard work and process documentation.

A Day in the Life

You’ll work shifts and be based at one of our operational sites. Your main focus will be to maintain safety standards within your team and across your site. You’ll also monitor and maintain process efficiency while prioritizing routine team management and daily operational tasks. This includes individual escalations, process improvement work, and wide-scale operational contingency planning.





Being a key part of the operations team involves collaborating with colleagues in other teams and external partners to meet customer demands and targets. This will involve analyzing data and performance metrics with leaders in your business area and discussing operational pros and cons of technical improvements with engineers.

Amazon Logistics, or AMZL, handles ‘last mile’ delivery duties in partnership with third-party distribution businesses. We utilize creative thinking and continuous improvement to deliver millions of products to our customers efficiently. Our goal is to enhance customers’ delivery experience and roll out global delivery solutions for initiatives like Amazon Fresh, Prime Now, and Amazon Restaurants.

Our team is people-focused and supportive, particularly as many of our associates work through the night. We operate with 24/7 shifts in most locations,



processing millions of products for dispatch to our delivery teams. Meanwhile, our ‘on the road’ personnel work with Amazon Flex, a network of delivery contractors, continually raising the bar for customer experience with new, innovative delivery services.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Completed High School Diploma
Availability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
Basic English (A2)
+2 years of previous experience
1+ year as a people manager

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Completed Bachelor’s degree
Advanced English proficiency
3+ years of experience
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing tools
