Experience: >2 years as PE manager; >5 years in product engineering.
Bachelor Degree required / Master Degree Preferred
**Job Description**:
- Responsible Manager to lead Product Engineering team to achieve success on GDI customer production programs.
- Maintain close communication and working relationship with GDI product experts for support required; PV, RM, JK, KA, JS.
- Responsible for GDI Injector, Fuel Rail and Pump.
- Responsible to support all customer communications and actions.
- Manage successfully PDP process on all programs.
- Lead or attend required weekly meetings (internal & customer PDT) to report on projects and ensure progress.
- Lead design reviews and print reviews
- Manage PE team; WorkDay evaluations, HR, career growth, etc.
- Grow & Improve Juarez engineering capability for GDI or create successful collaboration with MTC site to improve Juarez GDI capability.
- Design & validation responsible
- Help manage engineering budget and validation costs.
- DFMEA responsible
- Work with PM, ME, SCM and other functional teams to implement projects correctly
- Deliver projects on time
- Retain and grow capability of PEs, acquire new talented PE members as needed.
- Meet BOM cost targets
- Meet program launch metrics successfully
- Plan and participate in cost reduction workshops.
- Work successfully with ME & operations to make sure projects are meeting plant business metrics.
- Work within BW Engineering System
- Responsible to ensure all appropriate analysis is complete; FEA, AMESIM, etc.
- Responsible for successfully completed Validation; DV & PV, conformance statements, tear down analysis, reports.
- Ability to travel; domestic and international
Specific Skills:
- Several years product engineering experience.
- Experience supporting customer programs and interfacing with customers.
- Experience & training in PDP process
- Experience working with suppliers
- Experience managing engineering team.
- Excellent communication skills and calm, encouraging, coaching demeanor.
- Need to become GDI products expert.
- Fuels, hydraulics experience.
- CFD, FEA and Vibration analysis understanding.
- Experience/understanding of material properties
Preferred
- Experience with precision tolerance components
- Understanding / experience with UG
- Understanding of manufacturing processes; especially GDI product assembly.
- Design for Six Sigma; Robust Engineering
- Red X ®, Six Sigma or other engineering problem solving methods
- Understanding of automotive engine function
- Auto industry experience
- Experience working with a designer to create prints and specifications
- Experience working with manufacturing processes, gaging.
- Experience working with suppliers to reduce component cost.
