Additionally, support centralized engineering’s productivity and processes compliance to
- standardization, process improvement, training, adoption and utilization of standard tools, inspect and ensure quality.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Overall responsibility for coordinating, scheduling and estimating the engineering work while insuring the work products meet high quality standards.
- Support Estimating
- Advise project manager on technical status.
- Ensure schedules are met.
- Ensure budgets are on track or early warning on negative deviation
- Ability to identify and early escalation of project risks
- Lead systems problem solving efforts
- Responsible for coordinating and assisting in site surveys as required.
- Provide on-site support and troubleshooting if required.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with customers at all organizational levels
- Manages Engineering Peer Review process and support TRR Process for controls.
- Ability to assess unclear, complex, and ambiguous situations and reduce into distinct, clear, timely, and stable direction for the engineering team
- Maintain District Level Quality
- Good knowledge and experience in basic Engineering Manager areas like Cost, Time and Risk and Customer
- Participates in Impact Reviews and sales activity tracking processes.
- Evaluates engineer’s technical competence.
- Develops and shares solution development best practices and support efforts towards standardization, process improvement, training, adoption and utilization of standard tools.
- Drive business performance and and assure metrics are met such as billability for team, cost and schedule for projects.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong Engineering skills in building controls, automation, mechanical, etc.
- Understands how to develop engineering solutions in a design/build/retrofit situation
- Technical training ability: Understands and can effectively teach other engineers about proposed solutions
- Understands financial value. Can translate technical solutions into a customer value proposition.
- Excellent Negotiation Skills: Ability to understand the customer needs, negotiate complex sales and total value offerings to customers.
- Excellent team work skills, communication and presentation skills.
- Strong bias for action, with the ability to work independently and make decisions with limited information..
- Strong Coaching and Influencing Skills. Ability to work in a highly matrixed organization and influence without formal authority.
- Ability to set judicious expectations and manage them with key stakeholders

- Document all portions of the estimate in a logical, consistent, and legible manner.
- Provide value engineering estimating and cost optimization methods.
- Assist the project manager in change order scopes definition and estimates.
Education & Experience:
- Four year Technical Engineering degree or related technical field.
- 5-12 years of HVAC industry experience.
- Proven track record as a technical manager working in a complex sales process.
- Strong industry experience.
Must understand customers & markets.
