The Global Corporate Office Network Service team manages the internal corporate office networks for more than 200 locations at SAP. The team is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the data network services in SAP’s Internal Corporate Network.
We are looking for an experienced network engineer with solid knowledge across a variety of network technologies with a focus on Cisco routing / switching and Palo Alto networks firewalls. Your primary tasks include the design, deployment, operation, and continuous improvement of the global network infrastructure for our global WAN, Internet and LAN services using managed services providers.
Close cooperation with other Regional Core Network Services team colleagues will be required to ensure that the network infrastructure is delivered in accordance with business requirements and global standards. To achieve these goals, you will work with the managed service provider with second and/or third line support and implementation, including 3rd party resources.
**The Role**:
The position requires strong analytical skills in combination with a genuine service-oriented approach including the ability to anticipate changes and present recommendations to Management. Flexible and open-minded thinking with the ability to identify dependencies among complex enterprise network services and defining appropriate actions.
**Main responsibilities**:
- As part of our Global team, use the managed service provider to deploy, operate, monitor and maintain the global network infrastructure.
- Particiapte in transformation of the product using a combination of hands-on-skill and provider knowledge.
- Coordinate the installation, configuration, deployment and maintenance of routers, switches,
firewalls and other network equipment using 3rd party implementation staff. This is _NOT_ a single person operation. Ensure compliance of network infrastructure to global standards
- Ensure that service and operations level agreement are met. Responsible for third/fourth line incident support. Work closely with our L1-L3 Managed Service Providers and ensure the service meets business requirements
- Work with global teams to investigage and evaluate new network technologies. Design and deploy solutions globally.
- Interact with other technology teams as needed. Experience in other enterprise level operations (LAN, WLAN, DNS, Security, etc) a plus.
- Deploy and maintain executive and other special networks, requiring delicate handling
**Required Skills**:
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering,
Communications Engineering or equivalent working knowledge
- 6+ years of experience as a Senior Network Engineer in a global networking environment
**_ Technical:_**
- Minimum Cisco CCNP Routing and Switching or proven equivalent knowledge
- Excellent knowledge of design and operations of Layer 2/Layer 3 routing and switching, preferably Cisco Networks
- Working knowledge of **_firewall routing_** configurations desired. Direct knowledge of Palo Alto a plus, with experience in Prisma cloud product a huge plus.
- Familiar to strong knowledge of firewall _policy_ concepts not required, but a plus.
- Strong knowledge in routing and switching, including OSPF. Working knowledge of LAN, BGP routing protocols, DNS, DHCP platforms and Network Access Control.
- Analytical thinking and problem solving, with autonomous and proactive working behavior

- Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast paced and multi-cultural organization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong command of the English language. German language knowledge a plus.
- Excellent collaboration and teamwork abilities
- Flexible attitude towards working hours to work as part of the global team. Occasional shifted hours to accommodate time zone issues is to be expected.
- Ability to respond to issues and projects when needed, even after normal working hours.
- Ability to communicate directly with end users and customers at various levels of technical abilities with professionalism.

- Project Coordination Skills
- Real world IPv6 routing and switching
- Experience in other enterprise level operations (LAN, WLAN, DNS, Security, etc)
