Your Role
Gensler's MX office is looking for an experienced Design Leader for its Work Studio.
Your role is to combine creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to produce functionally beautiful spaces for clients while mentoring junior designers to also achieve inspiring, impactful design.
What You Will Do
- Utilize your experience with all phases of Interior Design project deliverables from Concept Design through Construction Administration to realize a successful design concept
- Work independently or with minor oversight to perform assignments including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning and construction documentation
- Produce mood, material and design presentations independently or with mínimal supervision
- Produce furniture plans, specifications, material selections and schedules needed for construction documentation independently or with mínimal supervision
- Participate in client and consultant meetings
- Effectively communicate design ideas by hand sketching and/or digital graphics
- Train and mentor junior designers
- Utilize knowledge of hospitality furniture and technology,
and custom furniture and lighting solutions, finishes, materials, color selections, and ID specifications
- Independently create material palettes and inspiration image boards
- Space plan in various aspects of Work
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited school.
- 10-15 years of experience, with at least 10 years of recent workspace sector focused interior design experience with responsibilities as described above
- Completed several retail projects from concept to completion
- High taste level, excellent color sense, and great passion for work space and interiors design
- Excellent graphic design, organizational, time management, and written and verbal communication skills
- Passionate, self-starting, intelligent, dedicated, efficient
- Enjoys both taking responsibility and team collaboration
- Detailed understanding of FFE design and deliverables
- Experience directing and providing leadership for design teams from business development presentations through developing strategy and design concepts
- Strong leadership, organization, communication and relationship management skills
- Ability to provide critical design review to design teams, communicating design ideas and direction quickly
- Demonstrated success building, nurturing and fostering new client relationships
- Ability to work closely with design directors across the firm to promote an inter-disciplinary design approach and philosophy, and to facilitate its advancement across the firm
