SG&R;'s Energy Division is working to develop and implement low emission energy technology alternatives, raise private financing for energy infrastructure, bring efficiency to utilities, work with governments on legal and regulatory reforms to alleviate bottlenecks in energy generation and consumption, and increase access to green energy to sustain economic growth and reduce poverty.
We serve as a chosen partner for USAID's Power Africa program in sub-Sahara Africa and have a growing international energy portfolio of over $250 million across Africa, Asia, and the Pacific Islands.
Project Description

The purpose of the USAID Mexico Partnership for Net Zero Cities is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by improving energy efficiency measures in the buildings and transportation sectors, and reducing Short Lived Climate Pollutants (SLCP), thereby helping to put Mexico on a pathway to net zero emissions after 2030.
The program will be based in Mexico City and include activities throughout Mexico.




RTI seeks a Sustainable Investment Planning Specialist for the recently awarded USAID Mexico Partnership for Net Zero Cities program.
The Sustainable Investment Planning Specialist will report to the Objective 4/Finance and Governance Lead.
**Responsibilities**:
**include, but are not limited to**:

- Provides technical advisory and capacity-building to subnational governments and civil society organizations (CSOs) to improve their ability to access finance and mobilize investment.
- Assists in the development of a pipeline of public sector projects and screens investment opportunities.
- Develops gap analysis and strategic action plans on accessing green financing at the state and municipal level.
- Supports states and municipalities to access finance and mobilize investments for climate-related projects.




- Facilitates active relationships with financial partners, developers, investors, and governments.
- Contributes to fostering and maintaining effective, professional relationships with a broad range of government counterparts, local organizations, donors, and other stakeholders for successful implementation.
Qualifications:

- 6-10 years of experience in investment management, strategic planning, with experience in environmental social governance (ESG) and/or impact investing.
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, Management, Mathematics, Engineering, Business/Administration.
- MBA or CFA or equivalent master's degree preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills (in English and Spanish) to articulate complex concepts and issues in a compelling, persuasive, fact-based manner.




- Specific and relevant experience in emerging market financing and investments, preferably in Latin-American.
- Demonstrated experience working at the subnational level for capital investment planning.
- Experience supporting proposals for public funding for energy or other public green infrastructure projects.
- Experience with navigating the competitive proposal processes for energy projects or other green infrastructure projects.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships, build capacity, negotiate contracts, manage projects, and influence policy changes.
- Understanding of the interplay between investment and sustainability frameworks.
- Ability to clearly articulate an investment process.
- Passionate about sustainable investing and experienced in dealing with the investment implications.




- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of energy efficiency, green infrastructure and sustainability programs, and when needed, recommending changes to close strategic gaps.
- Willingness to collaborate with members of the team to achieve project performance targets.
- Analytical with a solid investment foundation, and the ability to formulate strategy to convert ideas into action.
- Work experience in the Mexico highly desirable.
