The Tax team ensures that the organization meets its tax obligations and objectives and complies with all relevant laws and regulations. Activities may include undertaking research; evaluating the legality and tax effectiveness of current and future business activities; preparing and submitting tax returns, tax declarations, and other required reports; maintaining tax records; and corresponding with external tax agencies or consultants.
Summary
This role focuses on comprehensive tax compliance for Mexico and LATAM, ensuring accurate tax provisions, filings, and regulatory adherence. Key responsibilities include supporting the annual tax provision, managing corporate tax returns, defining policies to mitigate tax risks,
and utilizing tax technology tools. The specialist will also handle transfer pricing compliance, including intercompany transaction analysis and coordination of required documentation (Local File, Master File, CBC). Additionally, the role involves tax planning activities, such as cash movements and permanent establishment matters, and tax controversy support through federal and local audit experience and risk analysis under USGAAP (FIN48, FAS5).
Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance:
1. Seasoned professional in full tax compliance: tax provisions, tax returns, and other tax filings for Mexico and LATAM countries.
2. Will be responsible for assisting with the annual tax provision and quarterly tax package.
3. Assist in managing corporate tax returns.
4. Definition of policies and procedures to reduce tax risk in the daily operation.
5. Knowledge of tax technology tools (Tax Automations).
6. Supports the corporate tax department in its compliance functions.
7. Review/Prepare General Ledger Account reconciliations and analysis pertaining to taxes.
8. Interact and correspond daily with tax webpage.
9. Review internal policies and controls from a tax perspective to mitigate tax risks (SOX).
10. Analysis of local and global intercompany transactions.
11. Coordination of Transfer Pricing compliance (Local File, Master File, CBC).
Tax Planning:
1. Cash moves such as: Dividends, Capital Reimbursements, Sale and Lease Back.
Tax Controversy:
1. Experience on Federal and Local tax audits.
2. Risk analysis from a USGAAP perspective (FIN48, FAS5).
Requirements:
1. Public accounting experience strongly preferred.
2. Tax accounting/compliance experience.
3. 5+ years in tax roles (Big 4 and Manufacturer Companies).
4. Good organizational skills.
5. Provide support to tax managers and develop and maintain a relationship with other department professionals.
6.
Ability to communicate effectively in English (both in writing and verbally).
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
8. USGAAP, IFRS, Local GAAP.
