.Manages Purchasing Department personnel.
Coordinates with appropriate internal and external parties on all executive levels to facilitate the proper strategy for the purchase of material, equipment, and professional services.
Coordination may include negotiation with suppliers and internal parties, developing recommendations on purchasing transactions, and taking appropriate actions to achieve department and company objectives.
Provides project management guidance for multi-disciplined assignments as related to acquisition of outside professional services and support matching inside resources.Contributes to building brand value and achieving enduring profitable growth.Job responsibilities:Communicates closely with global purchasing counterparts, ensuring alignment of strategy and common understanding of ongoing issues to support achievement of NPO objectives.Manages purchasing transactions including, but not limited to:Acquisition strategy, source selection, supplier negotiation and contract preparation.
Monitors all aspects of the purchasing transaction to ensure appropriate financial, budgetary, legal and other cross-functional reviews and approvals, as required.Performs special projects requiring high levels of confidentiality and sensitivity.Coordinates commodity and research studies, as well as development of long-range commodity plans and strategies at both global and regional levels.Acts as an interdepartmental liaison, troubleshooter and mediator.
This may include coordinating with Purchasing Managers at other facilities, reallocation of assignments/commodities based on requirements, and involvement in specific client/vendor issues.Provides input and recommendations on department procedures,
budgets and plans.Performs advanced contract administration.Develops, drafts, and negotiates contracts for goods or services.
Provides sufficient documentation to assure Nissan of the receipt of the goods or services contemplated, reasonable remedies in the event of disputes, adequate legal protections in areas such as intellectual property, indemnification, and insurance.Coordinates contracts with Legal, Risk Management, Finance, and the department, as required.Education:Bachelor's degree in a business or engineering discipline.
Advanced degree preferred.
Consider equivalent related college or technical courses, seminars and in-house classroom training.Experience:Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in a purchasing function at a professional level,
including three or more years of experience negotiating contracts.Supervisory Experience: One to two years in a work leader role coordinating the work of other employees or contractors.
This includes training new employees, assigning work, and checking the timeliness and quality of work.
May have provided input into performance reviews
