**Position Summary**:
The Diaphragm Product Engineer role will provide technical support on a global level to the elastomer formulation engineer, business unit engineering, and manufacturing on topics pertaining to diaphragms used in Emerson products.
The Product Engineer will work closely with tool design, manufacturing, and quality to bring about continuous improvement and provide engineering expertise to the product development process.
**Essential Job Functions**:
- Work with the elastomer formulation engineer to select and maintain elastomer formulations and fabric offerings that meet customer requirements.
- Help ensure high quality, cost competitive materials are available for diaphragm and elastomer seal products.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving part quality and production material processing issues.
- Development / maintenance of internal specifications and practices.
- Provide technical support for assigned products to manufacturing, sales, service, and customers
- Maintain and update assigned products through ECRNs and design projects.
- Perform and document design calculations and analysis
- Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings
- Create added design documentation such as part numbers, test specifications, instruction manuals, design practices and procedures, etc.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to drive continuous improvement
- Become an SME on diaphragm design and be willing to mentor and coach others in the organization to increase the knowledge base
**Education / Experience Required**
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years in the diaphragm or elastomeric seal molding industry
- 3+ years in rubber or plastic manufacturing
- 3+ years in fabric processing
- 3+ years in rubber compounding
**Knowledge / Skills / Abilities**:
- Ability to communicate (speak and write) in English
- Understand the relationship between elastomers, fabrics, and adhesives used in the diaphragm molding process.
- Understand diaphragm and elastomer seal design techniques and constraints.
- Knowledge of raw materials necessary for diaphragm production
- Knowledge of the diaphragm production process (elastomer storage, milling, calendaring, extrusion, fabric forming, rubber/compression injection molding, and quality control)
- Self-motivated, self-sufficient, and capable of working with cross-functional teams
- Mechanical aptitude and visualization skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Basic knowledge of material properties
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment

Pay: $25,000.00 - $30,000.00 per month
