The Global Demand Planner will be responsible for specific global market segments across Aramids. Once established and confident in the process, planning tasks will require interactions with supply chain and coordinating the end to end process with global leaders.
The Demand Planner is responsible for managing and developing the demand plan over the entire 24 month planning horizon. The Demand Planer is able to build a forecast and justify assumptions from data using a variety of analytic techniques. They will then present the analytical forecast to the sales team for validation and revision as needed. More importantly the Demand Planner is able to understand indicators of forecast direction, where assumptions have been violated,
and can communicate the sources of variation and error to stakeholders to drive improvement. Finally, planner will be responsible for coalescing the inputs to the process and determining the most likely forecast for supply planning and financial commitments.
**Main activities**:
- Understand and communicate the 0-3 month execution forecast reviewing the bottoms up, order levels, and machine learning feedback with our understanding of supply availability
- Runs and operates the demand process every month for the full IBP month horizon
- Evaluate the analytical output from the Analytics Manager
- Review factor selection to ensure changes in mix or market are being reflected accurately in the statistical forecasting tools
- Generates the first draft of the forecast to be discussed at the sales/marketing monthly review meetings, and updates any changes that may take place at the review to achieve an agreed upon Demand Plan for both volume and price
- Lead segment commercial teams through reviews of the forecast signals, collect assumptions and requested overrides,
and drive alignment of an unconstrained forecast
- Monitor price OL and provide segment connect to the pricing specialist as required
- Document assumptions and support development of segment input for the IBP Step 2 meeting
- Translates the forecast into a format usable by supply chain to make planning and scheduling decisions - keeps APO data and format up to date as required
- Document and adjust direct sales forecasts into APO and maintain DPES files where applicable
- Address issues related to forecast accuracy and drive improvements
- Drive process improvements
- Works with Forecast Analyst and commercial team to determine scenarios of price elasticity
- Expected to have a deep knowledge of primary customers, competitors, and understanding of market forces that drive demand
- Ensures continuous communication needed among Demand, Marketing, Sales, Supply Planning, and others as required
**Requirements**:
- Fluent English (written and spoken)
- Intermediate spreadsheet skills - pivot tables, lookups, solver, etc.
- Problem solving using analytical methods
- Ability to communicate analyses with precise language and clear visual communication
- Intermediate visualization skills - graphing data, incorporation to presentations, and selecting the most meaningful assumptions and justification language
- Basic to intermediate applied statistics knowledge or Certified Six Sigma Green Belt
- Strong continuous improvement mindset, desire to learn new analytical methods and tools - interest in third-party certification
- Collaboration with commercial team around the globe and teamwork with global demand organization
- Management of large data sets and interest in market drivers and leading indicators
- Previous experience in company systems (BW/SAP/GCAP/APO)
- Basic Economics knowledge
- Certification in supply planning or forecasting - example APICS
