**Main Responsibilities**:
**The Research Analyst will play a role in Wood Mackenzie’s Short-Term Refining & Oil Markets research team. The focus of the role will be to develop of our short-term asset-level modeling capabilities to analyse global downstream oil markets and refining assets. This includes validating and researching refinery configurations, crude trade flows, crude slates, and supply/demand balances on a regional basis.**:
**The role offers the opportunity to develop forecasting techniques using Wood Mackenzie’s proprietary refinery LP model, PetroPlan, and industry knowledge through interactions with other members of the global Oils and Chemicals team. A key aim will be to support the development of appropriate modeling solutions to help our clients navigate the energy transition.
Together you will support the development of the data solutions to generate a detailed product and asset-level view of the future of oil product markets and the refining sector.**:
**Key Responsibilities will include**:
- ** Support the development of our short-term asset-level modeling capabilities using Wood Mackenzie’s proprietary refinery LP model, PetroPlan, to forecast global refinery operations: refinery runs (crude and feedstock), refinery supply, and refinery margins. Integrate modeling outputs into our existing short-term oils and refining workflows.**:
- ** Support the development and build-out of the data architecture and data workflows to automate the ingestion of our proprietary and 3rd party data sources. Work closely with our data team and regional analysts to develop new refining market analyses to grow revenue across the short-term refining space.**:
- ** Conduct short-term asset level analysis the operational performance of individual refinery sites. Support research and analysis on crude and product trade flows, prices, supply, and demand dynamics. Support the analytics team on analysis of events impacting oil markets.**:
- ** Support the development of our crude and refined products maritime services, tracking crude and refined product ship movements daily and developing the automated data workflows to support the short-term asset level model development.**:
**About you**:
**You have a keen interest in commodity market dynamics, and you want to develop an in-depth understanding of how these markets underpin the natural resources industry and impact our everyday lives.**:
**You have an analytical mindset and an eye for detail, which have been proven in your academic and/or work experience to date.
You are comfortable collecting and interpreting data, articulating your findings in a clear and insightful manner. You are curious and seek to clarify and enhance your knowledge by asking thoughtful questions. You also have a flair for writing and communication and confidence in presenting to an audience.**:
