The Junior Substation Engineer is responsible for the engineering activities required for turnkey EPC high voltage substation projects, including detailed design for high voltage substation and transmission projects.
This position will offer the ability to directly apply the candidate's knowledge of electrical engineering in substation and transmission projects.
Responsibilities include reviewing project design criteria and prioritizing tasks for ongoing projects.
Develop one-line and station auxiliary one-line diagrams for a new substation project.
Attend internal project team meetings to discuss the general arrangement, layout, and elevation drawings for the substation.
Share progress and address any design concerns.
Perform calculations for grounding and cable ampacity to ensure the substation meets safety and performance standards.
Document the results and integrate them into the project's overall design.
Review manufacturer documentation for equipment specifications to verify compatibility with the project's requirements and make notes on any discrepancies that need further investigation.
Support the 3D design team by providing electrical engineering input for proposals, including reviewing the 3D models and suggesting improvements or changes based on electrical design principles.
How You'll Make an ImpactDevelop project design criteria, prepare main one-line and station auxiliary one-line diagrams, and develop grounding drawings.Develop substation/switchyard general arrangement, layout, and elevation drawings, BOMs, perform cable ampacity, grounding, lightning, illumination, and station auxiliary load calculations.
Perform trench and conduit design.
Support camera and Gas density Monitor design.Develop conceptual designs for pricing and support 3D design for proposals.Perform special assignments and provide technical advice in the area of expertise, including risk and schedule management.
Review manufacturer's documentation.Knowledge of ANSI standards and IEC standards is a plus.The candidate should be flexible to travel locally and internationally to customer meetings and project sites.
Approximate travel is 10%.What You BringElectrical Engineer or Electromechanical with 2 or more years of experience focusing on primary electrical design for high voltage substations.
Experience with equipment typically used in substations is strongly desired.Knowledge of ANSI and NEC standards; IEC standards knowledge is a plus.Proficient with AutoCAD, MicroStation,
and Revit are a plus.Experience with SIEMENS equipment and projects is a plus.Strong communication and technical skills in interdisciplinary exchange with other technicians/engineers, as well as a willingness to travel (approx.
