.Type of contract: ConsultancyLocation: Remote work - the location for this position is flexible, with a preference for individuals based in the Global SouthCommitment: 40 hours a week (full-time).
The position is offered on an initial 6-month trial contract with a probation review at 3 and 6 months, extendable to two years subject to satisfactory performance.

As soon as possible.I - The Global Initiative for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights(GI-ESCR)GI-ESCR is a non-governmental organisation that believes transformative change to end endemic problems of economic and social injustice is possible only through a human rights lens.Since 2011, GI-ESCR has been involved in groundbreaking work that has resulted in critical policy decisions, judicial decisions, and the effective implementation of ESC rights at the national, regional, and global levels.
Working closely with local partners, GI-ESCR has achieved pronouncements on protecting women's rights to land and productive resources and their implementation.Working closely with partners, GI-ESCR has advanced new frontiers in economic, social and cultural rights.
It has played a bridging role in ensuring that human rights advocates have the opportunity and capacity to engage and infuse international human rights spaces with the experiences of rights holders on the ground and partner with movements.II - The PositionThe successful candidate will lead the organisation to deliver its vision and strategy and ensure its long-term success and health.
The Executive Director will be a leader who collaborates globally with the GI-ESCR team and its partners.
A critical task will be taking the organisation to the next level of development and increasing diversity of funding.Key Responsibilities:Strategy Development & Initiative Oversight:Deliver a strategic framework which enables GI-ESCR to further its vision and mission.Think creatively and strategically about human rights norm development to shape a progressive understanding of the human rights framework with a particular focus on economic, social and cultural rights.Build relationships with donors, staff, global partners and social movements.Partnerships:Support the team in working closely with global, regional, national, and local partners, including partners from marginalised communities.
This work will require empathy, listening, and learning from the perspectives of our partners on the ground, as well as letting them take the lead in their advocacy while providing advice on human rights and access to human rights mechanisms
