We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of **Manager, Compliance Advisory - Global Service Centre (Mexico).

Reporting to the (Senior Manager, Compliance Advisory, the Manager, Compliance Advisory)
role is a crucial part of HBCA risk strategy and is responsible for a broad range of Regulatory and Financial Crime Compliance activities, including but not limited to; the execution of Customer Due Diligence (CDD) queries with timely response to first line of defense business teams; execution of FCC escalation case assessment and decisions; execution of CDD concurrence activity; oversight of the bank
- s highest risk clients, including Special Category Clients/High Risk/Restricted/Prohibited clients.
The Compliance Manager will also provide Regulatory advice to help HBCA manage regulatory risk effectively including but not limited to; Marketing Material reviews, New Products, Cross Border activities.
The role requires strong partnership with the first line of defense, WPB and Wholesale business partners and Regional/Country Compliance teams, acting in concert with them to drive the implementation of policy as it applies to HBCA business activities and Customer 1st Now priorities.
The role is a critical forward looking role and requires strong partnership with the business to drive and accelerate the execution of Compliance programmes that directly impact business performance and help support quality sustainable growth.
The responsibilities of the Manager, Compliance Advisory are to:
- Primarily to support WPB and Wholesale Compliance Advisory, to maintain an effective control framework and to ensure compliance with all relevant external laws & regulations, internal codes, policies and best market practices.
- The job holder will have accountability for advice, review and challenge of the Wealth Personal Banking (including RBB), Global Banking Markets and Commercial Banking business for new initiatives, business changes, customer communications, marketing, and other activities.
- Provide advisory services to the businesses in order to ensure clear understanding of compliance risk exposure with respect to clients, transactions, channels, services and products.
- The role requires strong partnership with each business and leadership team, interfaces with other stakeholders and Compliance teams, and has responsibility for driving the implementation of policy arising out of changes in Compliance within HBCA, Canada and globally.
- Ensure proactive communication with each business and develop appropriate processes for engagement.
It will be the go-to person for each LoB business to ensure risks and issues related to compliance for WPB and Wholesale are considered and addressed.
- To exercise risk steward challenge, support issue management, foster a compliance culture and optimize relations with the LoB risk and control owners.
- To stay at the forefront of key regulatory and risk environment changes for Canada to ensure proactive communication with the LoBs.
Requirements

- Excellent English Language verbal and written communication skills
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years of Compliance, Legal, Global Functions and/or Regulatory experience
- Ability to maintain control, direction and motivation in an ever-changing environment
- Strong relationship management skills with the ability to manage & engage multiple stakeholders, meet their expectations, negotiate in situations of conflicting interests and influence key decision makers in a positive manner
- Operates effectively across cultures and in multi-cultural diverse work environments
- Resourceful - ability to leverage resources available to achieve goals
- Ability to understand and implement Group risk management policies
- Proficiency with personal computers and pertinent mainframe systems and software packages
