Senior Software Test Engineers work with dedicated product teams to ensure that our products deliver against our customers' unmet needs.
They function as ambassadors of quality within the team and lead by example in instilling a testing mindset to improve overall quality and team velocity.
They are responsible for ensuring our software functions the way it is intended by creating automated testing plans and strategy,



creating/coaching software engineers/Associate Software Test Engineers/Software Test Engineers to create various forms of automated testing, execute tests and solve complex issues.
They work side by side with software engineers to improve overall software quality and recommend opportunities for improvement.

you will:Understand customer needs and business goalsOften act as the test lead for features or epicsBe adept at creating, executing, and supervising highly complex test plans for large-scale development projects while collaborating with Product owners/analysts/managers and other Engineers.Analyze Production issues and regression bugs to identify and implement preventative measuresDesign cleanly coded, comprehensive test automation framework for their team or product areaConsider future testing needs when designing test automationWork with developers to create test harnesses that will enable test automation for hard-to-test featuresUnderstand and consider technical dependencies when creating test strategiesProvide feedback via decision-making frameworks for proposed changes from across the organizationWork within the scope of a team and participate in cross-team testing collaborationUtilize,



extend and create new automated testing frameworks including load testing/performance testingIdentify opportunities for test architecture and implementation that can be reused by multiple teamsWhen needed, perform exploratory testing on the product to understand its testing challengesCreate and mentor/coach software engineers/ASTEs/STEs to create various forms of automated testing (of high complexity) and help team identify and use appropriate methods of testing.Understand how to use security testing tools to find gaps in security coverageSolve complex testing issuesMonitor state of quality, raising awareness and resolution of gaps in qualityDrive the team and organization toward implementing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline, where needed.




Identify and implement improvements for existing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipelines.Regularly contribute to and at times present at Community of Practice sessions, and contribute to Paved Roads when appropriate.Required Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent with 4+ years of experience.Demonstrated experience building automated testing frameworks from scratch using frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright etc.Experience with performance testing using tools such as JMeter, Artillery and LocustDemonstrated experience working with an object oriented language (preferably C#)Demonstrated experience testing APIs and deep understanding of API best practicesExperience writing SQL/NOSQL queries including joinsExperience testing consumer facing web applicationsAWS experience is a plusDeep knowledge of software testing best practices in an agile environmentExperience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery integrations or toolingMust be adaptable to change and have a willingness to learnMust have a strong sense of curiosityMust commit to their role and take responsibility for their tasksMust be able to work effectively in an agile and team environmentMust be effective and creative in problem solvingIf you are excited about Paylocity, the technology, the team, the project, and can say yes to several or all of the criteria above, we're excited to hear from you.
