A Brief Overview
This role is responsible for developing productive and effective relationships with all clients for Latin American Markets, with special focus on the Andean Countries (Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile,
etc.; the countries assigned may change depending on RGA Strategy). The Business Development Manager will work with staff from various departments to increase sales opportunities and maximize revenue through their distribution network. This role will manage existing and prospect clients to ensure ongoing satisfaction and retain or generate new business, within a defined market or geographic area to ensure continual opportunities for business growth, including frequent trips to each of these countries.
What you will do
- Defend current portfolio - maintain a solid client base of companies in the South America Region.
- Strengthen key accounts relationships - position and deepen relationships with key accounts in countries within their responsibility
- Ensure clients and prospective client business needs are fully identified and understood. Develop and execute annual strategic plan, account management plans and ensure it is updated on an ongoing basis.
- Identify and bring new initiatives; be updated on market activities and regulation changes within the countries of their responsibilities.
Be innovative and proactive in generating ideas for pursuing business opportunities. Work with integrity, having always in mind that BD´s should be committed to RGA as your employer, thus should defend RGA interests first, maximizing the business but with a keen consideration for shareholder value by weighting strategic and shareholder perspective over top line considerations.
- Develop strong relationships with clients and ensure they are served well and with sense of urgency.
- Collaborate to substantially increase the size of RGA Latin America, to strengthen their position in each market as a global reinsurer, with strong collaboration with your colleagues and focusing on opportunities with special emphasis on creating long term value for RGA.
- Take the lead to develop visit schedules and trip organization for all participants in the business development activities.
- Collaborate in RGA’s client’s events from inception to roll out. Engage and consult with other internal colleagues to understand client’s needs and work as part of the business development team to generate these needs. This includes participating in client sales meetings, client calls, attending industry events and completing documentation required by clients related to the sale process by effectively coordinating, training and coaching all required parties and providing a timely and professional response. Collaborate to maintain KAPTA Updated and timely visit report elaboration, as well as T1 account plans as needed.
- Demonstrate full understanding of underwriting, reinsurance coverages and related products and services offered. Strong support to operations.
- Collaborate with Pricing,
Health, Marketing and Underwriting and other internal teams to follow up on initiatives, claims, produce sales material, sales training tools, new client implementation kits and communications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, Business administration or similar required
- Previous reinsurance experience preferred
- Colombia local residence required
- 50% annual travel required
- Previous Risk management or Asset and liability management preferred
- Product development experience preferred
- International experience either through working for a global organization.
- 10+ Years Experience in the Insurance or Reinsurance Industry required
- Fluency in English and Spanish required
- Good Team Worker required
- Ability to work independently and to show initiative required
- Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all stakeholders, including customers and associates.
- Demonstrates ability to cultivate strong working relationships across functional groups and lines of business
- Advanced ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables - Behavioral Skills - Advanced Proficiency required
- Retain a key focus on client relationships, client experience and operational efficiency.
- Associate or equivalent of an Internationally recognized Actuarial Institute Preferred
