**Duties**:
The INL Outreach Coordinator is an INL position located in approved consulates.
In Hermosillo, the position is full time, reports to the Political Officer and is reviewed by the Outreach Officer in Mexico City.
The incumbent coordinates on a daily basis with appropriate consulate officials, including the principal officer and consulate political section, as well as the INL Policy Unit.
The position may be located in either the Public Affairs or INL section in the consulate.
The primary functions of the position are fourfold: 1.
Develop and implement the INL Mexico communications strategy for the consulate in coordination with the consulate, the Embassy's Public Affairs Section, and the INL Policy Unit.
2.
Serve as the face of INL in the consular district, networking with INL contacts which may include Chambers of Commerce, prisons, NGOs, universities, civil society groups, police academies and appropriate law enforcement contacts.
3.
Draft spot reports, memoranda, and briefing materials on INL programs and regional, security, and political issues affecting Merida Initiative and its successor agreements' goals.
4.
Assist the principal officer, management section, and other appropriate offices with additional collateral duties as they pertain to regional, political, and security issues affecting the broad range of programs supporting U.S. and Mexico bilateral security cooperation.
The INL Outreach Coordinator supports INL in achieving Mission Integrated Country Strategy objectives by producing and disseminating public information about Merida Initiative and its successor programs, projects, and activities throughout Mexico, and educating and promoting a better understanding of Merida Initiative and its successor programs among key Mexican stakeholders.
**Qualifications and Evaluations**:
**Requirements**:
Three years progressive work in a public affairs, public relations, public outreach position, administration, government,
community development or related field is required.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Business, International Relations or Political Science is required.
Evaluations:
**Language Proficiency**:
Fluent English is required (this may be tested.)
Good Working Knowledge Spanish is required (this may be tested.)
