The Mitigation Senior Associate will be part of the GGGI Mexico team and based on Mexico City.
S/he will work in close collaboration with other staff in CAID, IPSD, and other GGGI divisions, particularly Mexico country team and under the guidance of the Mexico's Country Representative.




The Senior Associate is expected to be a professional who is passionate about contributing to GGGI's mission to drive innovation in accelerating green growth worldwide and addressing the global climate emergency.
The Senior Associate will play an important role within the Mexico team to support country program in addressing climate change mitigation actions, conducting GHG assessments, contributing to the integration of climate change mitigation into national and subnational policies, strategies, programs and projects, supporting the development of GHG emissions forecasting and estimating of mitigation potential of projects and scenarios, calculating co-benefits of mitigation actions, providing inputs for mitigation actions design, implementation, and monitoring.
**PURPOSE**:
The purpose of this position is to support implementation of GGGI Mexico's program in integrated planning for low emission climate resilient green growth to support development and support in the development of climate transparency systems, LT-LEDS, and NDCs.
The person in this position will play a key role in the following thematics:

- Climate change mitigation:





- Support the develop GHG inventories guidelines for selected sectors, sub-sectors and technologies at national and sub-national scales;
- Carry out gap analyses on existing data and information collection mechanisms for multiple sectors, sub-sectors and technologies;
- Assess and analyze national GHG data management systems, policy frameworks, governance frameworks, and other foundational considerations;
- Identify and prioritize the sub-sectors, activities, measures and policies, and highlight the key components, actors and their roles and responsibilities
- Asses long term low GHG emission development strategies;
- Collect primary and secondary data and conduct data analysis, planning, and modeling related to MRV, LT-LEDS, and NDC support activities in country, and/or coordinate activities of GGGI consultants doing so;
- Develop climate transparency, LT-LEDS,



and NDC systems, tools, strategies, and relevant policy documents in support of country objectives to meet Paris Agreement commitments;
- Policies, strategy, and frameworks:

- Contribute to the development of policies and strategies in close collaboration with other GGGI experts.
- Review and contribute to the mainstreaming climate change and green growth into projects and/or initiatives.
- Mainstream the incorporation of adaptation to climate change in GGGI and Member countries interventions.
- Project management:

- Identify, design and delivery of programs, projects, and project's components to address climate change mitigation.
- Support GGGI Mexico country office in supervising programs, projects and project's components to address climate change
- Resource mobilization:





- Support the development of project proposals to access to funds and donors
- Support the mobilization of resources for the implementation of climate change interventions by developing partnerships with existing sources of finance, international conventions, and donors.
- Knowledge development:

- Inform GGGI personnel on cutting-edge climate change mitigation issues by developing knowledge products and conducting continuous training sessions.
- Develop training materials and to support the delivery of capacity building programs, workshops, seminars, and other activities to improve the knowledge of stakeholders in selected countries.
**ENGAGEMENT**:
The Senior Associate shall proactively engage in collaboration, knowledge-sharing, communications, and advocacy for advancing country efforts to meet Paris Agreement commitments by:





- building and leveraging collaboration with and resources from international organizations (including the UNFCCC), partnerships, and platforms as well as research institutions, academic institutions, and other organizations, where relevant, to support project implementation;
- Engaging and collaborating with key GGGI staff, including other country teams, throughout the project design and implementation process and supporting in-country technical advisory services;
- Engaging and collaborating with the donors focus on climate change efforts;
- Supporting stakeholder engagement, visioning exercises, consultations, and other activities necessary to formulate systems, strategies, and relevant policy docume
