Description
The Plant Controller is Responsible for all financial, cost and inventory
accounting functions related to the assigned plant(s) (see Area Job Covers)
This position is located at one of the Company’s plant operations. Up to 10%
travel to the Company’s other various plant, branch and corporate locations is
required.
Provides an interface with the Purchasing, Manufacturing, Sales, Customer
Service, Engineering, Quality and Warehousing functional areas.
**Daily**:
Calculate, track and communicate KPI’s to the management team
Maintain BOM’s
Work w/ Operations to identify cost savings opportunities and assist in the implementation of the actions needed to achieve these savings.




Work w/ Operations w/ regard to analysing site processes and procedures with the goal of standardizing the “best practices” across the Company
Work with plant management to develop estimated costs and pricing models to support quotes for new business.
Perform periodic time studies in order to capture accurate labor rates for use within BOM’s and corresponding standard costs.
Analyze overhead and landed costs in order to capture accurate overhead and inbound freight costs within BOM’s and corresponding standard costs.
Insure new part #’s are costed accurately and updated within ERP system.
Develop and maintain standardized inventory cycle count processes and procedures in order to improve accuracy and detect BOM variance issues.
Review and process capital expenditure requests (ad hoc)
Other plant related finance duties, as required.
**Monthly**:
In accordance with the month-end closing schedule requirements for the plant.
Prepare and record monthly journal entriesReconcile all balance sheet accounts.




Prepare monthly financial statements.
Analyze and report purchase price variances to Procurement.
Analyze and report manufacturing variances by work-order.
Calculate and monitor capitalized inventory variances.
Production cost reporting
Quarterly.
Calculate Metals surcharge & pricing updates within the system.
Calculate inventory excess, shrinkage and warranty reserves.
Perform reporting & analysis to support the quarterly financials & BOD meeting
**Annually**:
Support year-end close
Support year-end external audit and periodic bank collateral audits
Calculate and update standard costs within ERP system
Assist in the annual budget process for the plant
Lead the physical inventory planning and execution for the plant
**Requirements**:
Skills.




Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills
Preparation of plant operating and financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flows)
Requires full knowledge of plant operating and financial statements and the ability to analyze and explain supporting trial balance trends
Preparation.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited four-year college or university, plus a minimum of five years of experience as a Plant Controller, Senior Cost Accountant or related role within a manufacturing environment
Software Requirements.




Strong Microsoft Excel skills (i.e. Pivot Tables, V-Lookup, formula creation)
MS PowerPoint experience desired, but not required
Requires proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
Oracle NetSuite ERP experience required
