SCOPE OF ROLE
This position reports to the Sr. Director of Supply Chain Mexico and is responsible for identifying and evaluating Direct Materials suppliers for various components or materials needed in Regal Rexnord manufacturing locations globally. The job involves researching potential suppliers in the Mexico region that fits the respective category sourcing strategy, also supports the supplier selection by assessing the supplier capability to meet quality, delivery, and cost.
The position collaborates closely with Enterprise and Segment Category Managers, Supplier Quality and Development Engineers, and manufacturing locations. Additionally,
they may be involved in supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall performance and competitiveness.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Researching, identifying, and screening potential Direct Materials suppliers in the Mexico region that can provide the required materials or components at competitive quality, delivery, and cost.
- Assessing supplier capabilities, reliability, and performance through detailed evaluations, site visits, and supplier audits
- Conducting thorough research of potential suppliers by working with Mexico’s economic development departments, chambers of commerce, maquila associations and other organizations to identify potential suppliers. Including attending industry events, investigating on-line and asking for recommendations from colleagues or industry experts.
- Developing, with support and guidance from Sourcing Leadership team, a supplier evaluation questionnaire to screen potential suppliers.
- Supporting Global Category Managers in developing the global category strategy and selecting the most suitable suppliers based on factors such as quality, cost, delivery time, and reliability.
- Working with Enterprise and Segment category managers to define Mexico preferred supply base by commodity.
- Collaborating with enterprise and segments category managers on the preparation of Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Request for Quotations (RFQs).
- Identifying potential risks in the Mexico current and potential supply base.
- Collaborating with Supplier Quality teams to conduct quality assessments and ensure that suppliers meet quality standards and adhere to specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Developing a directory of Mexico current and potential suppliers by commodity, including supplier’s capabilities, location, contacts, etc.
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including Enterprise and Segment Category Managers, Supplier Quality and Development Engineers,
and manufacturing locations.
- Analyzing data related to supplier capabilities, performance, costs, and quality metrics to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of concern. Generating reports and presenting findings to management as needed.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to ensure open communication, resolve issues promptly, and collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Reporting to agree upon KPI’s and presenting plans, activities and progress.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- BA or BS degree preferably in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or International Business.
- Master’s Degree desired.
- 10-15 years’ experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment with experience in strategic procurement/supply chain,
or similar position.
- Proven knowledge of electrical, plastics and mechanical categories including PCB’s, resins, injection molding, steel, castings, machined components, stampings, forgings, bearings, etc.
- Strong knowledge of Mexico industrial landscape and Mexico supply base.
- Experience working with Global Category Managers in the development of sourcing strategies.
- Ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.
- Understanding of quality control standards and procedures.
- Analytical skills to assess supplier capabilities and cost structures.
- Possesses an understanding of total cost of ownership and material cost breakdown.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Bilingual - Spanish/English
- Availability to travel up to 50% (mainly in Mexico)
